Attention to detail: the new Arteon offers premium design as well as driving pleasure. It leads the way in terms of the latest driver assistance systems.
Extending your field of view.
“Side Assist” lane change assist aids the driver when changing lane. Two radar systems in the rear of the vehicle scan the areas approximately 50 metres behind the vehicle and in the blind spot next to the vehicle.
Regardless of your intention to change lane, “Side Assist” displays all the vehicles in the area critical should you decide to change lane. The system notifies the driver about potential dangers by a constant light illuminating in the corresponding exterior mirror. If the driver nevertheless activates the turn signal, the LED light flashes with increased brightness and draws attention to the danger.
Instead of distracting the driver with unnecessary warnings, it always takes into consideration the difference in speeds. “Side Assist” only signals vehicles which could actually present a danger were the driver to change lane.
The lane change system works above a speed of 15 km/h and is activated at the press of a button. “Side Assist” is the ideal technical enhancement to the vehicle (exterior mirror) and the driver (looking over his shoulder), helping to prevent hazardous situations when changing lane and taking pressure off the driver.
Keeps hazards outside the vehicle.
The proactive occupant protection system uses the rear sensors and “Front Assist” area monitoring system to record critical situations, which pose a higher potential risk of an accident.
When the system detects a hazardous situation, to prepare the vehicle and passengers for a potential accident, the front seat belts are tightened and driver and front passenger are restrained. The seating position of the front seats is also optimised with electric seats. Any open windows and sliding roofs are closed until only a small gap is open and rapid warning flashing is activated as an alert to following traffic.
Once the hazard has passed, and the vehicle is again stabilised in terms of driving dynamics, the front seat belts are loosened. The side windows and sliding roof can be returned to their previous positions.
Open up a whole new perspective.
Whether you’re parking, turning off a road or leaving a driveway, the optional Area View function lets you know what’s going on around your vehicle. Four cameras record images of blind spots around the vehicle and transmit them to the infotainment system – particularly handy when you don’t have a lot of room to manoeuvre.
Perfect cornering? Absolutely.
You will have more fun on winding roads with the XDS electronic differential lock. The one-sided build-up of brake pressure on the inside wheels enhances traction and makes cornering even more precise. That makes perfect control possible with deft handling. Some engines come equipped with the XDS electronic differential lock as standard, and it is available on request for all other engine types.
Optional Park Assist needs a mere 80 cm of space to manoeuvre your Arteon into the space. And what’s more, it can detect that space independently as you drive past at a maximum speed of 40 km/h. The system not only assists with reverse parallel parking, but can also help you pull forwards into both parallel and side-by-side spaces, for example in underground parking spaces where there’s little room.
You simply operate the clutch, accelerator and brake and the assistant will steer your car along the perfect line into the parking space – and out of side-by-side parking spaces as well. You can override or deactivate steering assistance at any time by taking the wheel, taking the car out of gear or pushing the Park Assist button.
Enlightening in every respect.
Dynamic Light Assist"" provides a brand new sensation when driving with main beams that is perfectly tailored to the situation on the roads. The system with variable road illumination allows the main beam to be left on continuously without dazzling oncoming traffic. This is possible thanks to a masking function which can partially dip the main-beam headlights. Information on other road users and the street lighting is captured by a camera on the interior mirror and then relayed to Dynamic Light Assist. This significantly improves lighting of the entire carriageway.
Cornering at the speed of light.
The (optional) advanced dynamic cornering light improves bend illumination by up to 90%, ensuring greater safety and reducing the risk of accidents while cornering. You will appreciate the trajectory of a corner much earlier – along with any obstacles, people and animals around the corner – and thus gain valuable time in which to react to critical situations.
Drive in your own personal style.
Adaptive chassis control DCC can be used to configure the running gear for normal, sporty or comfortable driving. Electrically variable damping is adapted automatically, as is the electromechanical power assisted steering. Adaptive cruise control DCC reacts continuously to different driving situations and takes account of braking, steering, and acceleration processes.
Adaptive chassis control DCC makes a significant improvement to the vehicle's driving characteristics. The driver is no longer fixed to a particular running gear configuration, rather is able to individually adapt the vehicle. The configuration can be selected conveniently at the press of a button in the centre console. The settings in the Individual menu can be set using a slider and matched to the driver’s personal preference.
Enjoy first-class communication and navigation options and treat your ears to the optional premium sound system "DYNAUDIO Confidence" in the new Arteon.
